Girona

Our project is located in GIRONA. It is a city in the northeast of Catalonia, in Spain, at the confluence of the rivers Ter, Onyar, i Galligants, with an official population of 96,236 in January 2009. It is the capital of the province of the same name, and of the comarca of Gironès.


...about CLIMATE and TEMPERATURE RANGE: 


Girona has a mild climate. In winter temperatures can drop to -5ºC (23ºF) sometimes due tu winds coming from the Pyrinees. In summer temperatures often soar about 30-40 ºC (86-104 ºF) in July and August. Rain is common in winter and spring, and also thunderstorms are often. In winter also it is common frost. 






...about WIND:
It is usual during autumn, winter and spring, the wind in Girona blows hard. The hardest wind, coming from the north, is Tramontana, wich exceeds 100 km/h over many days a year.

...about VEGETATION: 
Natural vegetation is highly degraded in the center of the municipality due to urbanization. We can still find some remnants of native vegetation communities of Oak, most of them in the area south of Girona. Walking arround the streets you can find trees like Chestnut, Lime, Cypress, Acac... 


...about TRADITIONS and CULTURE: 
Girona offers a very extensive range of things to do. The city, a great stage where centuries of history are captured in spectacular monuments, invites you to lose yourself in a walk around the Old Town. It also has an intense cultural life, with strongly characteristic events taking place each mont of the year. In addition, Girona is today a source of cultural production with regular, critically acclaimed seasons of theatre and music.
